Ta-Tai Maudit
Our short film is fully shot and now in post production. We are proud that this is a made-in-Louisiana film using Louisiana actors, crew, and locations. We have shot all over the state, including West Monroe, Lake Charles/Moss Bluff, Baton Rouge, and around Lafayette.

new orleans musician to compose our soundtrack
We’re excited to officially welcome Mr. Maxwell A. Darling, a New Orleans–based musician and film composer, to our film project! Maxwell is coming on board to create an original, classic ’70s rock–inspired soundtrack for our Filmsquatch short film “Ta-Tai Maudit.”We can’t wait to hear what he cooks up to match the gritty, swampy, late-’70s southern Louisiana vibe we’ve set this film in. It’s gonna growl, it’s gonna groove, and it’s gonna feel right at home in the bayou.
Ta-Tai Maudit is a short film that tells the story of a Cajun Bigfoot legend passed down for generations—mostly to scare children. But for Chance and Julie, the legend is about to become very real.
This project is a concept short, created with the goal of eventually expanding it into a feature-length film. We’re testing the waters to see what can be achieved with a modest budget, local Louisiana talent, and a deep passion for storytelling.
The film stars Mitch Laing as Chance, Sherina Leggett as Julie, and Brad Smalling as the Ta-Tai Maudit. All three actors hail from the Monroe / West Monroe area of northern Louisiana.
Ta-Tai Maudit loosely translates from Cajun French as “Cursed Monster.” The story is set in the 1970s, deep in the Atchafalaya Swamp of south Louisiana.
Written and directed by Patrick Bennett, co-host of the Filmsquatch Podcast, the film also features cameo appearances by Bennett and fellow co-host Kendall “The Crazy Cajun” Fontenot.
